I have 29 years of experience covering a range of issues - politics, government,
sports, business, media, features, courts, and crime - for nearly every type of media, including newspapers, magazines, television,
radio, and the Internet.
My experience in this range of topics and for this range of media outlets allows me to
quickly adapt to nearly any issue and present it I nearly any format. I have written for Salon.com, San Francisco magazine, MediaWeek, Our Sunday Visitor, Poynter.org, NJBiz magazine, and New Jersey Monthly
I consider myself a news junkie who likes to approach stories and
issues in a direct manner, but also look for the real story that may be hidden and require research. I
enjoy interviewing people and finding out what makes them tick, and what makes them ticked-off.
As a writer, there
are few assignments that bore me and few challenges the scare me. News writing has been my main focus for years, but fiction
and feature writing are among my favorites as well.
As I continue to work in the magazine world, and begin to outline
my second novel, I also am expanding my efforts in the freelance world. This means I am looking for assignments in any medium
- magazines, Internet, television or radio. Also, I have experience as a writing coach and wish to pursue that further with
part-time teaching of journalism and writing.
I am a quick study and a quick writer. While I never rush assignments
and always give complete attention to whatever is needed, I can complete a story in a matter of hours, days, or weeks, depending
on the deadline.
